Obama’s Cabinet is Bare in Business Experience

In terms of private sector experience, the cupboard is bare within President Obama’s Cabinet. Take the following graphic with a grain of salt. It came from a recent JP Morgan report in which I cannot vouch for the author’s research practices, or ideology. The author took all presidential administrations since 1900, looking at the private sector experience of 432 Cabinet secretaries whose activities touch most on the private sector. Here are the findings:

The author did not clearly define what the y-axis percentage means or how various kinds of experience are weighted. One would assume he or she used the same standards for every administration, but I can’t even guarantee that. This graphic is simply food for thought. Anyway you slice it, it’s safe to say Obama’s secretaries do not stack up, comparatively, to other administrations in terms of business experience; just what you want in a group of central planners. The following is a list of the president’s cabinet secretaries if you wish to do more research:
